FAQs
How is the money the Los Angeles Parks Foundation raises to be used at these parks?
Funding raised at each park will support the rebuilding and improvement of recreational amenities and open space elements damaged by the fire that may not be reimbursed by FEMA.
Will donations made to support Palisades Park recovery jeopardize FEMA funding?
No. Donations received will only support park needs that are ineligible for FEMA funding, including landscape restoration, tree planting, and other park enhancements.
Does the City’s self-insurance fund the repair of Palisades Park?
Because the City is self-insured, there is no specific insurance policy or budgetary fund to support the restoration of park buildings and park properties.
How is the fundraising and park work by LAPF different from the work by Steve Soboroff in his new role as Chief Recovery Officer?
Support received by LAPF will be donated to the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, in coordination with the Mayor’s Office and Chief Recovery Officer. Donations made to LAPF to support Palisades Park will therefore complement the City’s overall rebuilding efforts.
