Griffith Park Rangers

We receive multiple grants from the Griffith J. Griffith Charitable Trust to support programming and capital infrastructure within our beloved Griffith Park. Last year we received a grant to purchase much-needed equipment and supplies for the Griffith Park Rangers. These supplies help them keep up with the high demands of their work, including patrols in the park, peace officers duties, education about wildlife and much more. The Griffith Trust support allowed us to purchase saddles and bridles for horse-mounted units, firefighting equipment for ranger trucks and search-and-rescue thermal imaging cameras. Rangers provide emergency services and assist in citywide shelter operations during states of emergency, lead nature hikes for school children and provide interpretive educational programs at park facilities.

The mission of the City of Los Angeles Park Ranger Division is to enrich the lives of the residents of Los Angeles by providing safe, welcoming parks and recreation facilities for people of all ages to play, learn, contemplate, build a sense of community, and be good stewards of our environment. Park Rangers, through careful efforts, protect those who are using parks and protect park resources so that future generations may enjoy them.
