LA PARKS FOUNDATION AWARDED SUBSTANTIAL $1 MILLION DONATION FROM THE FIRE AID GRANTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Funds Allocated for the Restoration of the Playground at Palisades Park Affected by the Fires

LOS ANGELES –LA Parks Foundation, which works to support the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, is pleased to share the exciting news that they secured a substantial private donation amounting to $1 million made possible by FireAid. This remarkable contribution stems from the FireAid Benefit Concert held in Los Angeles on January 30. LA Parks Foundation has also secured a $300,000 in-kind contribution from GameTime—the company tasked with supplying equipment for the project —along with an additional donation from Banc of California’s Wildfire Relief & Recovery Fund, bringing support for the playground to more than $1.3 million. These funds will allow for an expedited restoration and modernization of the Palisades playground that has served the community for 35 years.

LA Parks Foundation’s mission is to enhance, expand and promote public recreation and parks for the diverse people of Los Angeles. This funding has been specifically designated and authorized to address urgent requirements at Palisades Park and Recreation Center, overseen by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and located at 851 Alma Real Dr. in Pacific Palisades. Seeking to begin shortly, LA Parks Foundation will oversee the project, placing a particular focus on reconstructing the playground to ensure its reopening by the July 4th weekend:

“We express our deep gratitude to FireAid, GameTime and Banc of California for their generous donations,” said Tony Budrovich, President and CEO of the LA Parks Foundation. “This support comes out of a successful private and public partnership aimed at revitalizing the playground within the Palisades community. The Park plays a vital role in the community, providing families with opportunities for recreation and fostering a sense of togetherness, which is more important than ever.”

Catering to children from 5 to 14 years old, there will be two adjacent playgrounds featuring a new rubber surface. These modernized play areas will be fully accessible and equipped with integrated shade to ensure a secure environment for play. Additionally, the design will incorporate a play fire truck as an homage to first responders for their dedicated efforts in combating the Palisades fire.
